Broken Hill City Aquatic Centre Transition Information

Broken Hill City Council and Belgravia Leisure are looking forward to welcoming the community to the soon to be renamed Broken Hill City Aquatic Centre as of 1 July 2026. We recognise the important role this facility plays in Broken Hill, and the focus will remain on providing a welcoming and inclusive environment that meets the needs and expectations of the local community.
 
Members can expect to see many familiar faces and enjoy the services they know, alongside some exciting additions! We are thrilled to introduce new, state of the art health club equipment, supporting a high-quality fitness experience for the community. We are also committed to introducing Swimming Australia’s GOswim learn to swim program, plus a range of accessible and inclusive programs over time, designed to support health, wellbeing and active lifestyles for all ages.
 
Importantly, new concession membership options will be introduced for students, seniors and pensioners, helping to ensure the facility remains accessible and affordable for the wider Broken Hill community.

Frequently Asked Questions

On Monday 29 June and Tuesday 30 June 2026, the Broken Hill City Aquatic Centre will be closed to the public to support the transition of management from The Y to Belgravia Leisure. Access will return to normal for members and guests from Wednesday 1 July 2026. We thank you for your patience during this period as the staff familiarise themselves with some of the operational changes.

The opening hours will remain the same.


Monday to Friday: 6:00am – 8:00pm
Saturday: 6:00am – 6:00pm
Sunday: 7:00am – 6:00pm

While every effort was made to ensure a seamless transfer of memberships, technical limitations with data transition have meant that all current members or learn to swim students will need to rejoin or re-enrol ahead of the centre reopening under Belgravia Leisure management on Wednesday 1 July 2026. We thank the community for their patience at this time and will work together to ensure a smooth joining experience for both current and new members.

All individual centre members will be required to re-join via our booking platform Active World. To join, please view membership options below and follow the prompts to set up your membership profile online. All current learn to swim members will receive a direct phone call from our team throughout the week commencing Monday 15 June 2026 to set you up and confirm your preferred lesson day and time. Those who hold a paid-in-full/upfront membership or a multi-visit pass will be contacted from Wednesday 17 June onwards to transfer this membership in full.


As part of this transition, we will also be offering all current and new members 4 weeks free time, and we will be waiving all joining fees. Please ensure you apply the promotional codes below under the ‘Summary’ heading in Active World purchase portal to activate your membership offer.

Any paid-in-full/upfront memberships and multi-visit passes will be honoured by Belgravia Leisure as per their conditions and expiry dates. The Belgravia Leisure team will make contact with members and visit pass holders from 17 July onwards to confirm the continuation of these memberships and passes.

No, all fees and charges will remain the same. As part of this transition, we will also be introducing concession pricing options for those with a valid concession card.

We are excited to announce that Broken Hill City Aquatic Centre will receive all new, state-of-the-art gym and fitness equipment from Wednesday 1 July 2026. Get ready to experience a complete fitness space upgrade, featuring premium cardio equipment, a fully equipped strength zone and modern functional training spaces designed to support every individual’s health and wellbeing journey.

Find standout machines including recumbent bikes for low-impact training, and high-performance favourites like the RowErg and SkiErg which will support you in delivering powerful, full-body workouts that build endurance, strength and cardiovascular health. A comprehensive strength and functional zone will also be available with premium and highly versatile equipment pieces such as the SportsArt Dual Adjustable Pulley Functional Trainer, alongside Ziva dumbbells, Olympic bars and kettlebells, plus sleds, TRX bands and conditioning equipment. Together, this new space will support strength, mobility, injury prevention and everyday movement – for beginners who want to build healthier routines for daily life, through to experienced gym users.

Swimming Lessons will continue to be held at Broken Hill City Aquatic Centre, however they will now be delivered under Swimming Australia and Belgravia Leisure’s nationally recognised GOswim Swimming and Water Safety Program.   

The GOswim program, powered by Swimming Australia, focuses on building confidence and a lifelong connection to safe and active participation in and around water. The GOswim lessons provide a structured way for children to improve their skills and be celebrated for accomplishing milestones. All students will be transferred into their appropriate level group within the GOswim program with all existing student families to receive a phone call during the week commencing 15 July to re-enrol during their preferred time slot.  All new students are encouraged to fill out our Expression of Interest form here.

All current learn to swim students will transition across to Belgravia Leisure and Swimming Australia’s national GOswim learn to swim program. All students will be transferred to an appropriate class level based on skill level. The GOswim program will have different class level names. Please see below the conversion table for your new level name.
